Some Deep Thinking! (Hmm..)

 So, today I’m analyzing deeper on how my product uses/challenges conventions and how it represents a social group and issue. (I’m doing this to help me organize and narrow down an answer for my CCR question 1)

In my film, a man gets killed by a woman who is portrayed as crazy and delusional. This seems hard to analyze, but it can challenge conventions and represent a social group in several ways:

 1. Subversion of Gender Stereotypes: Horror films have often depicted women as victims or damsels in distress, while men are portrayed as the aggressors or heroes. In this scenario, flipping the gender roles challenges these conventions by portraying a woman as the aggressor and the man as the victim. This challenges stereotypes about gender and violence, highlighting that anyone can be capable of violence regardless of gender. 

2. Depiction of Mental Illness: By portraying the female character as "crazy and delusional," the film could potentially challenge stereotypes and stigmas surrounding mental illness. However, it's essential that the portrayal is sensitive, avoiding the reinforcement of harmful stereotypes about mental health issues. The film could explore themes of how societal attitudes and lack of support exacerbate mental health conditions, contributing to the character's descent into violence.

3. Critique of Patriarchal Structures: The film could use the scenario to critique patriarchal structures and power dynamics within society. For example, the female character's descent into violence could be portrayed as a reaction to experiences of oppression or abuse at the hands of men. This could spark discussions about systemic misogyny and the ways in which it impacts women's mental health and behavior.

4. Questioning Perceptions of Reality: The portrayal of the female character as delusional could serve as a commentary on the subjective nature of reality and the ways in which societal norms and expectations shape our perceptions. The film could challenge viewers to question their own assumptions about sanity and madness, inviting them to consider how social constructs influence our understanding of mental health and behavior. 

Soooo, overall, a horror film featuring a man being killed by a woman who is depicted as crazy and delusional has the potential to challenge conventions, spark important conversations about gender, mental health, and power dynamics, and provide representation for marginalized social groups. However, it's crucial that such themes are handled with care and sensitivity to avoid perpetuating harmful stereotypes or reinforcing oppressive narratives. :)
