Blog Posting Activity!

In the start of September, I was assigned a project with a partner in class. We were supposed to write a short story and take pictures of different shots to communicate this story. We were only allowed to use 15 shots to demonstrate this story. Some of the shots were required to use were establishing shots, mid shots, long shots, close ups, etc. We did this activity to learn the different use of shots and how they help on the perspective of a story.

My partner and I decided to write the story of a girl a stuffed animal turtle who became best friends. We named the short story "The Friendship". The story took place at the Cypress Bay courtyard. It begun with a lonely turtle plushie sitting by itself on a table, but then a student found it and they became inseparable best friends for a few hours. They did tasks together like doing homework, sharing secrets, walking around, and laying down and seeing the beautiful sky. At the end, the student had to go home and couldn't take the plushie with her. So, she returned the turtle back to where she found it and they said their goodbyes. It was a very emotional moment for the two; the student then went home. This main message of our story was to prove that the most precious friendships can be found in the unlikeliest of places.

We used establishing shots, high angle shots, low angle shots, long angle shots, two shots, extreme long shots, POV shots, medium shots, close up shots, and extreme close up shots to explore the different angles and perspectives throughout the story. These different views helped us communicate our story by showing the different places and emotions.

I think our story was well shot. It was very fun to take all these shots around school campus. I think our shots were very good as we were able to provide the correct angles and perspectives for all of them. I would definitely try to improve the quality of the story next time, though. Even though our story was kind of cute, it was very random and basic. I still believe we did a good job for our first picture shot story!
